Carrying The Question: Fall Circle

A 6-week self-inquiry circle for women + non-binary changemakers to find clarity in these uncertain yet possibility-filled times.

As changemakers, our dedication to bringing to life a world we’ve never experienced before means we spend most of our days with more questions than answers.

The world is rapidly changing, and so are our fields. What we’re trying to do has never been done before at the scale–or pace–needed to avert further crises. We’re stretched, under-resourced, and overwhelmed. We wonder if it’s possible to do this work and be a human with a full life in bodies that have real limits and in systems that have never been able to support us.

Living with this uncertainty can be frustrating and exhausting when you don’t have the skills to navigate it. But what if you could learn to flourish in it?

Carrying The Question is a practical cycle-based self-inquiry tool that can help you find life-giving insights to big, sticky challenges, while also helping you build your capacity to hold complexity and get comfortable with uncertainty–two critical yet underrated skills for anyone working to spark systemic change.

And bonus: you can do this simple writing practice in as little as 10 minutes each week.

To teach you this life-changing tool and give you abundant support as you explore your biggest questions, this 6-week community circle will include an in-depth workshop to set you up for success, three live group calls for Q&A + sharing, and a group chat for weekly accountability reminders and ongoing connection.

By the end of the program, you’ll have developed the skills to…

  • Frame your challenges into clear questions

  • Work with nature’s cycles to uncover insights

  • Access your inner wisdom when you need it

  • Find greater comfort with complexity and uncertainty

All of these are essential skills that can help you become a thriving leader able to rise to the challenges of our times.

WHO IT’S FOR

This circle is open to anyone who identifies as a woman or non-binary changemaker–whether you’re making the world a better place through your activism or your career–and wants support to explore their big questions about our collective future and their role in it.

These questions might include:

  • How do we get to the future I long for?

  • What’s my next step?

  • What’s most important for me (or my team) to prioritize right now?

  • What support would help me find personal sustainability in my work?

  • How can I find more joy in my changemaking efforts?

  • What leverage point would help me move this work forward?

  • Where can we as a community put our attention to make a greater impact?

No period or womb is necessary to participate in the program. I will offer multiple cycles in nature that you can work with, including the menstrual cycle and the lunar cycle, so you can choose what resonates most for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This program will be a focused container to help you learn and practice the Carrying The Question tool, so that you feel more resourced to navigate the unknowns of being a human trying to create systemic change.

To support you in building up your practice, the program includes:

  • A 90-minute kick-off workshop to learn the practice + get support identifying your first question

  • Three 1-hour community calls for Q&A and sharing

  • A WhatsApp group chat for asynchronous sharing, ongoing support and weekly accountability nudges

  • Digital worksheets to guide you through the practice

  • (Optional Upgrade) Two 30-minute 1:1 sessions for personalized support during and at the end of the experience

But the heart of the experience will be your own self-inquiry practice, in which you’ll explore one of your big questions over the course of a cycle through a weekly writing exercise. I recommend planning for at least 10 minutes each week, but you may like additional time if it’s available to you.

To be clear: some of our stickiest questions won’t be able to be fully answered in one cycle or even the 6 weeks we have together. Sometimes they’re on their own timeline. But this experience is as much about skill-building as it is about finding insights, and you might be surprised what you discover.

FAQ + Disclaimers

  • Carrying The Question is a practice that I developed through my own personal Cycle Awareness practice of naming a sticky question during my menstrual phase and “carrying” it with me through the next cycle to see what insights surfaced.

Cycle Awareness as I teach it within Sister Seasons is a practice of observing your body’s and nature's cycles to notice how these cycles affect us personally and collectively, and then actively working with these patterns to both support our personal well-being and deepen our understanding of how we can support our planet’s well-being. The natural seasons and the menstrual cycle are two examples of cycles that we can observe, and they’re the ones I teach most often. But to be clear, you do not need a menstrual cycle to participate in this program.

I am endlessly grateful to Sjanie Hugo-Wurlitizer and Alexandra Pope of The Red School for first introducing me to the concept of Menstrual Cycle Awareness and a long list of teachers focused on regenerative futures who planted the seeds that led me to expand cycle awareness beyond the menstrual cycle by seeing how our body’s cycles are interconnected with those of the natural world around us.

  • First, these are questions that can’t be resolved in one sitting, one day or even a week. They take time to become clear. And it’s often the act of asking these questions that helps us grow, find what’s true for us, and get clear on our next steps. If they were simple, we wouldn’t need a tool to help us!

Secondly, these are not questions that anyone else can answer for you. No book or expert or AI holds the solution. Only you (or your team / family / community if it’s a collaborative question) will know what’s the right answer.

But the good news is the Carrying The Question practice can help you find greater clarity, ease, courage and peace as you build the bridge to a just, regenerative future while you walk on it–and bonus: the experience of learning to ask these questions and gather insights helps make us highly skillful leaders.

So to be clear: this program is not about giving you answers, but instead, our focus will be on helping you deepen your connection with your body and inner wisdom through self-inquiry, so that you have the skills to more easefully hold complexity, find your unique right next step, get comfortable with uncertainty, and tend to yourself through it all.

  • If you choose to opt in for the Program + 1:1 Support option, you will receive two 30-minute 1:1 sessions with me for more personalized support: the first to take place after the kick-off workshop, and the second, to be scheduled after our final live call.

In these sessions, we’ll address your unique needs, whether that’s help framing a challenge as a supportive question to work with, setting up your practice, adapting the tool to work for you, making it a habit, or simply having a listening ear to share what’s coming up for you in your self-inquiry practice.

  • All calls will be recorded and will remain available for 30 days after the program ends, so you are welcome to join the program, even if you are unable to attend any or all of the live calls

  • The course portal will open October 21 to provide access to the onboarding materials. Then, we’ll officially begin on October 25.

Here are the dates + times for the live calls:

    Oct 25, 12-1:30pm ET - Kickoff Workshop

    Nov 8, 12-1pm ET - Community Q&A + Sharing

    Nov 22, 12-1pm ET - Community Q&A + Sharing

    Dec 6, 12-1pm ET - Community Q&A + Sharing

  • There are 2 core components that you can expect to dedicate time to during this program:

    • Your self-inquiry practice ~ minimum 10 minutes weekly
