Community Agreements
By participating in Sister Seasons’ communal spaces, from social media to our live events to online programs, you agree to uphold the following commitments to yourself and our community.
Your Commitments to Self and Community
When you engage in our community online or in person, you commit to:
Take Responsibility For Your Well-Being.
We are not doctors, therapists, or health care providers. You agree to (1) participate in our community only if you feel capable and resourced to explore these sometimes sensitive topics in a group setting, (2) seek out a licensed provider, such as a doctor or therapist, if you are experiencing physical or mental health concerns, and (3) not use any of the information we share to diagnose, treat, or delay treatment.
Observe Confidentiality.
What is shared in the group—whether verbally or in writing—stays in the group. To help everyone feel safe to voice their stories and questions, you agree to not share participants’ names or experiences outside of the group.
Practice Collective Care.
Every member of our community is a whole, sovereign, and capable human who knows themself best. You agree to honor this by refraining from unsolicited advice-giving, most importantly medical advice, and practicing active listening: listening to understand rather than to inform your response.
Respect Our Differences.
Our community is made up of many identities. This diversity is as vital to our well-being as biodiversity is to our planet’s. We ask that you be mindful of your language and assumptions around the identities of fellow participants. If you are comfortable, we encourage you to share your pronouns proactively in group spaces. If conflict arises, we ask that you be open to hard conversations and take steps to repair harm when needed.
As an organization committed to intersectional gender and environmental justice and equity for people of all abilities and backgrounds, we will not tolerate hate speech of any kind. We reserve the right to remove anyone from the community and offerings without refund for any behavior we deem to be unsafe, harmful, or disruptive to other participants.
Honor The Offering.
You agree not to share access to—or materials from—Sister Seasons’ events, programs, or private community spaces with anyone or to claim or reproduce any content as your own. Doing so not only breaches the trust we work hard to build in our spaces but also diminishes our ability to continue this work.
Our Commitments to You
Because we practice reciprocity, we hold ourselves accountable to the same we expect of you. We also commit to:
Support Safer Spaces.
We can’t guarantee a space free of conflict or harm. We can, however, promise to do our best to prevent harm and to address it when it occurs. And since we’re in this as a community, we invite your collaboration to build a resilient, inclusive space where we can grow together.
Affirm Your Bodily Autonomy.
Around here, we aspire to give you ample opportunities to do what feels right in your body. You get to decide whether or not you share in a group, join a breakout, turn your camera on, or close your eyes during a meditation. So long as you are not disrupting the experience of others, you are welcome to engage in our community in a way that feels safe and supportive to you.
Make Way For Diverse Voices.
The environmental and health inequities we address don’t affect all women and menstruators equally. As a small business led by a white, straight, cisgender woman founder, we’re mindful of the importance of going beyond sharing facts to actually making space for the stories of women and menstruators who represent identities that have been most harmed by systemic oppression. From our content to our collaborators to how we facilitate conversations, it’s our intention to constantly seek opportunities to ensure what we build represents and supports our whole community.
Prioritize Accessibility.
We want to make it possible for people of all abilities to be full, active participants in our spaces. If you notice an aspect of our programming content or delivery that is not fully accessible, please contact us at hello@sisterseasons.com. We will do our best to implement changes and/or provide feedback to the technology platforms we use.
Name Our Teachers.
We seek to generously cite our teachers, sources, and the lineages that inform our content. We believe this transparency honors the contributions of those who have enabled us to build upon their knowledge and supports your continued learning. Beyond citations, we actively seek out partnerships with nonprofits, businesses, and teachers who carry these bodies of knowledge and/or represent their communities of origin.
We’re in this together.
We hope you’ll agree that the joy, connection, and power that comes from being in community makes the complexity of it all worth it. After all, we can’t shift cultural norms, build a better future, and solve the many crises on our planet alone.
If you have questions, or have experienced or observed anything counter to these agreements from our team or community members, please email hello@sisterseasons.com with “Community Agreements” in the subject line. We take your feedback seriously and will respond as soon as possible.
If you are a teacher or organization that would like to partner with us in making good on our commitments–or you know one we should collaborate with–we’d love to hear from you, too! We actively welcome partnership with climate experts, movement practitioners, and women’s health specialists who reflect the many identities of menstruators. Send a note to us at hello@sisterseasons.com.
